The Bodega Cooperativa de Falset is a modernist construction by César Martinell, a disciple of Gaudí that was built in 1919. It is the most emblematic building of modernism in the region and has in its stones the memory of the peasants who built it after the crisis of the Phylloxera at the end of the 19th century.
Siurana is another of the emblematic places of Priorat. The last fortification of the Arabs in Catalonia, it preserves a small Romanesque church on top of a precipice that surrounds it, with views that cover the entire slope of the Montsant mountain to the Ebro and the Prades mountains next to it.
MONTSANT NATURAL PARK
The Natural Park of the Sierra de Montsant is located in the region of Priorat and has a rich scenic landscape, natural and intangible within its territory especially rocky which makes it unique.
CARTUJA DE ESCALADEI
La Cartuja de Scala is a visit to the region, was the first charterhouse of the Iberian Peninsula in the twelfth century and was sacked and burned in the nineteenth century. Today you can visit its ruins with a guided tour that shows part of the cloister, church and refectory.
Margalef is one of the most popular climbing destinations in the region. The proximity to the sectors, the Mediterranean climate and its special conglomerate rock make Margalefse an excellent place to climb all year round.
GUIAMETS AND SIURANA SWAMP
In the region there are three swamps, where you will find the possibility of practising water sports The Embalse dels Guiamets, which is located in the southern part of the Priorat region, receives the waters of the Capçanes stream and the Siurana reservoir that receives the water of the river of the same name are the most popular.
Falset is the capital of the region, a town with a good offering of services and a pleasant layout of streets that allow you to get lost visiting it. The interest is in several points from the castle to the church, its squares, the expansion of the town the eighteenth century, its maintenance throughout the twentieth century and the current reality.
The first weekend of May is celebrated in Falset with a wine fair dedicated to the wines of the two appellations of origin of the region, the DOC Priorat and the DO Montsant.
The exhibiting wineries offer samples of their wines in exchange for some tasting vouchers. During the weekend there are numerous parallel events: lectures, short courses of initiation to wine tasting.
